54 networks bid to join European Universities pilot

Dozens of bids have been received to join the pilot of the European Universities Initiative, Tibor Navracsics, the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, has confirmed. He announced via Twitter on 1 March that he was “proud” to have received 54 consortium applications for the European Universities pilot by the 28 February deadline. Farrell promoted to camerlengo

Former bishop of Dallas, member of the University of Dallas’ Board of Trustees, and namesake of UD’s “front door,” Cardinal Kevin Farrell was promoted to camerlengo, a high administrative position in the Vatican, by Pope Francis on Valentine’s Day. The role of camerlengo in the Vatican has been vacant since the death of Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran in July of 2018. According to a Feb. 14 article by the Catholic News Agency(CNA), the role of camerlengo includes overseeing preparations for papal conclaves. Further, the camerlengo manages the administration of the Holy See between death or renunciation of a pope and the election of the next. Ryan Anderson comes on as UD’s first JPII fellow

The University of Dallas has seen growth in many ways over the last few years, including expanding educational opportunities. UD’s most recent achievement is the hire of conservative author Dr. Ryan Anderson as the inaugural St. John Paul II Social Thought Fellow. Anderson is currently the William E. Simon senior research fellow in American principles and public policy at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank based in Washington, D.C. that mostly deals with public policy. He received his doctoral degree in political philosophy from Notre Dame, and many of his writings have been published in well-known newspapers such as The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal. JPI building new apartment complex near UD

Next year, students at the University of Dallas dissatisfied with current off-campus housing options will have another option within one mile of the university. Irving-based construction company, JPI, is currently building the apartment complex, called Jefferson Texas Plaza. The complex will have 282 units available for lease in fall 2020, according to the company’s website. JPI media contact Chelsea O’Neal said rent is expected to be around  $1,655 per month. The estimated rent is higher than the most expensive apartment in Tower Village apartments, but Jefferson Texas Plaza apartments will have high ceilings, spacious living rooms and balconies.
